24 METER GRADER 70T DUAL LIFT
ROY HILL MINE, WESTERN AUSTRALIA
06/10/2024
Roberts Collins Group (RCG) successfully executed the offloading and rigging of a 24-meter grader (weighing 70 tonnes) for Roy Hill. The project involved a carefully coordinated dual crane lift to safely transition the grader from transport to its designated location. RCG delivered the project efficiently while minimising disruptions and adhering to stringent safety protocols.
The operation utilised two LTM1230-5.1 cranes to lift the broken down grader. The cranes operated in tandem, using 2x 50t 8m round slings and 2x 35t shackles of rigging equipment, with a 1.49m hook height, in order to achieve maximum control and balance during the offloading process,.
Outrigger Load: 729 kN, with mat dimensions of 1.2 x 1.2 m, ensuring stable ground bearing pressure.
Max Working Radius: 9.6 meters with a capacity of 44.8 tons at this radius, utilising 89.7% of crane capacity.

Uncontrolled Movement During Skidding
Project Summary
RCG’s Specialist Alternative Lifting Division recently demonstrated its engineering excellence and innovative capabilities by delivering a groundbreaking solution for the installation of three 6-tonne Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) on a mezzanine floor. This complex project required overcoming significant challenges, including a confined workspace and the necessity to minimise disruptions to the site’s existing infrastructure, such as plumbing and electrical systems.
To meet these demands, our team engineered a bespoke jacking system with an operational height of just 25mm, paired with a precision-engineered skidding solution. This custom approach enabled the safe and efficient lifting and manoeuvring of the VSDs across the mezzanine floor without the need for extensive modifications to the existing utilities. By eliminating the need for service removal or relocation, we significantly reduced the project’s scope, delivering substantial time and cost savings to the client.
The project is a testament to RCG’s unwavering commitment to innovation and safety. Through meticulous planning and execution, we not only adhered to industry-leading safety protocols but also ensured zero incidents throughout the operation. The result was a seamless and efficient delivery that remained on schedule and within budget, showcasing RCG’s unmatched ability to tackle challenging environments with tailored, state-of-the-art lifting solutions.
By consistently pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, we continue to establish ourselves as the trusted partner for even the most complex lifting challenges.

133 TONNE TRANSFORMER RELOCATION USING AN 18M MODULAR HEADER BEAM AND SBL900
RCG’s Specialised Projects Division undertook a complex heavy lift and transport project, requiring the relocation of a 133-tonne transformer to Wattleup. Our engineering team worked with our transport and rigging departments to develop a complex lift and transport and logistics plan. We utilised our state-of-the-art SBL900 hydraulic gantry system and an 18-meter modular header beam, an innovative approach unique to RCG. This method optimised the setup process by eliminating the need to manoeuvre a gantry into position, significantly reducing the timeframe of the project, the cost of staff and ultimately, the number of rail tracks required,. The custom-engineered lift plan ensured the safe, efficient, and precise handling of the transformer throughout the relocation.
